Dr Frank Leader

 

Heralding from a tri-generational GP family in north Cork, Frank graduated from RCSI in 2008. He completed a few years of training in general and emergency medicine in Ireland, before travelling to New Zealand to join the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, undertaking his advanced training in Melbourne, Australia. His first consultant job was as a ‘flying doctor’ in Central Australia, providing logistics and asset coordination to an area of 1.3 million square kilometres and retrieving critically ill patients from the desert.

He is interested in simulation, education and training, critical care and retrieval medicine. Outside of work, he enjoys long-distance running, multi-day hikes and learning French from his children. He is currently head of education and training at CUH Emergency Department and clinical lead for the Adult Emergency Medicine Advanced Nurse Practitioners.
