PEM Training
The Children’s Emergency Department at CUH is a teaching site for Core and Advanced Specialist Training in Emergency Medicine. General practice trainees also complete their hospital paediatric experience in our department. Stand-alone posts are available for doctors in training on alternative pathways. In 2023, we welcomed our first candidate advanced nurse practitioners in paediatric emergency medicine. By 2024, we will become a training site for Specialist Registrars in Paediatrics.
Our department sees over 16,000 children per year for medical and surgical emergencies. Trainees are supported in acquiring the management skills required for the care of acutely ill children, including learning the relevant practical skills and proficiency in procedural sedation.
