Learning Goals

• Perform a structured primary assessment of the injured child, and understand how this differs from an adult patient 
• Identify the key anatomical and physiological characteristics which are unique to the paediatric trauma patient 
• Understand the common injury patterns which manifest in paediatric trauma patients 
• Recognise that injuries may sometimes be non-accidental (NAI) and identify the factors that should raise suspicion of NAI
